Volume language of the proposal contains a double gable arrangement, solved in tonally differing brickwork to break down the exposed massing mass and separate two elements, that way visually decreasing readable scale and creating a sense of 2 smaller blocks instead of 1 larger block, therefore the proposed volume blends in better with the detached or semi-detached house dominance along the adjacent properties.
Light Buff brickwork element of the proposed right-hand side is mimicking the most common render and painted brickwork with a light buff / yellowish hue. The reason for mimicking the render / painted brickwork with a buff rustic brick is to soften the minimalistic shaped contemporary interpretation of the traditional gable, by allocating a softening property of rustic brickwork and mortar stitches to the texture.
Red-multi brick is proposed for the left-hand side and gable, as the most common brick type along the adjacent street frontages, to tie the proposal more successfully within the existing environment.
Proposed Brown traditional interlocking tile for the roof, is used as the most common tile solution along the adjacent properties. Tile cladding is designed to ‘climb’ down the setback wall in between the front gables, to help breaking up the massing and highlight the conceptual sense of 2 smaller blocks.
