The application proposes a contemporary re-interpretation of the tradition detached houses prevalent within the area. The proposal draws upon cues and ideas built into the character of the street and includes design references to details, proportions, and materiality from the immediate setting. The proposals create an intensification of a large width plot along a street which historically has evolved to provide larger apartment building developments.

 

Semi-mature trees are included along the application site frontage, to provide a softer leafy presence to the street scene.

 

The design has been developed with a clear concept taken from the character of the area. This is explained in further detail in the initial diagram ‘right’ and overleaf in this section. The proposal responds positively to adjacent building scales and form and the wider street context.
